Students of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) in Ogun State have been living in fear over the incidence of robbery in some hostels.
Although the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kolawole Salako confirmed that the robbery incidence has only occurred in Private hostels, which are very far away from school hostels.
Also, there have been rising cases of students being robbed by armed robbers.
Naija News understands that the last incidence took place last Thursday. This made it the seventh time such is happening with no single arrest being made by the police.
Naija News further gathered that items such as iPhone 11, six necklaces, some cash, four generator sets, and other valuables were taken away by the robbers.
This has led students to flee from those affected areas to safe zones within Obantoko and Osiele areas of Abeokuta, to prevent being robbed.
However, the Vice-Chancellor said the management of FUNAAB and landlords of the affected private hostels were putting efforts in top gear to prevent a recurrence of robbery; adding that the police and other security agents were on top of the matter.
Salako said Landlords have been encouraged to beef up security in order to avoid such occurring next time.
