Five Killed, Scores Injured In Onitsha Robbery Operation

Five persons have been reportedly killed while several others have sustained various degrees of injuries during a robbery operation in Onitsha, Anambra State’s commercial capital.

Naija News understands that the robbery which took place at a petrol station and pharmacy shop in the city came a few hours after the launch of super smart closed-circuit cameras (CCTVs) by the state governor Willie Obiano.

The incident was reported to have occurred along the Awka road, in the Anambra state capital with two females and three males among the casualties of the attack.

The robbers in their numbers were said to have driven into the petrol station at about 2.00am after being allowed access by the attendants who mistook them for customers.

This online news platform understands that the robbers numbering six; “shot dead one of the guards before gunning down a worker, who was woken up by the sound of gunshots.

“Another female sales attendant, who delayed when the masked pointer asked her for the key to the volt, was also killed,” a source revealed.

Some commuters plying the area, including night travellers, reportedly jumped out of their vehicles and scampered to embrace safety.

Monies realised from the day’s sales at the petrol station were reportedly carted away by the suspects through the aid of pointer indicating where they were kept.

While confirming the incident, the state police was reported to have said that the incident was under investigation with the aim of coming up with findings.

“We’re investigating the matter and will come out with our findings later,” Police spokesperson, Haruna Mohammed, was quoted to have said.
