Osun 2022: Oyetola Wins In Aregbesola's Ward

Governor Gboyega Oyetola‘s visit to the residence of the governorship candidate of the Action Democratic Party, Moshood Adeoti, has caused a disagreement between the party and the Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress.

APC, in its statement, had claimed that Adeoti who left the party following the adoption of the direct primary was free to return, ADP, however, insisted that the Secretary to Osun State Government would remain in the party where he contested the 2018 election.

Adeoti had resigned as the SSG in 2018, and alongside many APC members move to ADP, where he contested the governorship election.

Oyetola, however, after attending the conferment of religious titles on some prominent indigenes of Iwo, including ex-Managing Director of The Monitor newspapers, Alhaji Liad Tella, who was turbaned as Asiwaju Adini of Iwo, on Saturday, paid a visit to Adeoti in his residence.

Following the visit of the Osun State governor to the residence of the former SSG, there are speculations that he had secretly returned to APC.

The spokesman for the Adeoti Campaign Organisation, Kayode Agbaje, while reacting to the visit said, it was just a visit by the governor to a politician.

He further stated that for now the ADP governorship candidate remains the party leader in the state and no one should read meaning to the visit.

The APC spokesperson in the state, Kunle Oyatomi, while speaking on the visit stated that the decision of Adeoti to return to the party depends on him.

He added that the former SSG and his supporters would be welcomed if they return to APC because the party would want to reconcile with all its estranged members.

“We won’t say APC did not miss those that left, especially our former SSG. The 46,000 votes he got in the governorship election really affected us as a party.”
