The Kwara State police command over the weekend confirmed the killing of a police officer in the state by suspected armed robbers.

According to a report, the police sergeant alongside other security personnel attached to the station were beheaded by the armed robbers during their operation at the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC mega station in Ilorin.

The Kwara State Police Command spokesperson, Ajayi Okasanmi, confirmed the sad incident to newsmen in the state.

Okasanmi, however, stated that more information will be revealed soon, he added that the incident is under investigation.

“The death of a policeman and attack is true but the command is still investigating the issue.”

The robbers were reported to have attacked the fuel station on Saturday night after workers at the station had left for their respective homes.
