72-Year-Old Man In Prison For Allegedly Raping, Impregnating Own Daughter

Man Accused Of Raping Teenager

A 72-year old Ibrahim of Dadinkowa, Yamaltu/Deba Local Government, Gombe State has been remanded in prison custody by a Chief Magistrates’ Court.

He was remanded by the Chief Magistrates’ Court 10 in Gombe State, on Monday, for allegedly raping and impregnating his biological daughter.

The accused however pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Ibrahim is accused of forcefully having sex with his 17-year-old biological daughter (name withheld) and impregnated her in his house.

According to the police First Information Report, read by Dalaky Wanma, the court clerk, the accused committed the offences several times between December 2018 and January 2019.

The clerk noted the offence is contrary to sections 390 and 282 of penal code.

The Police Prosecutor, Sgt. Bako Shekari, also told the court that police had just commenced investigations into the matter.

He, therefore, asked the court for an adjournment to enable police complete investigations and seek legal advice from the Ministry of Justice.

The Chief Magistrate, Daura Sikkam thereafter ordered the remand of the accused person and adjourned the case to November 13 for further mention to enable police complete investigation.
