Kwara State Government Receives Looted Money From EFCC

The Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has received over one hundred million naira recovered from treasury looters by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

Naija News learnt that the funds were gotten from suspected Kwara state treasury looters who were officials of the state between 2003 to 2018.

The state Zonal Head of the EFCC, Mr Isyaku Sharu, during the handover of the drafts for the funds to the state governor, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, in his office said  that the commission has recovered over N500 million of assets and cash in the last eight-month

Speaking on how the money was recovered from the looters, Mr. Sharu said the suspected Kwara state treasury looters allegedly misappropriated landed properties of Harmony Holdings while others diverted funds meant for micro small and medium enterprises credit scheme.

The Governor of Kwara State, Abdulrazaq, in his response, thanked the EFCC and disclosed that the cash will be used for the social investment programme in the state to lift poor people out of poverty.
