Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has hailed the judgement of the Governorship election tribunal that affirmed his victory at the last election.

Naija News reports that the Tribunal had on Friday affirmed the election of Ahmadu Fintiri as governor.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) had approached the tribunal seeking to challenge the victory of Ahmadu Fintiri of the Peoples Democratic Party (APC) during the last governorship election in the state.

The APC had asked the tribunal to annul the election of Fintiri because his election did not comply with provisions of the Electoral Act.

According to the party, their was over-voting in some places and non-use of the card reader in other places during the election.

Delivering judgement on Friday, the tribunal-led by Justice Adediran Adebara, declared that the petition lacked merit.

Justice Adebara said that even the witnesses of the petitioner were inconsistent in their submissions.

He said the tribunal would ordinarily have struck out the petition outrightly because the direct beneficiary of the reliefs the APC sought was not a party to the petition.

Reacting in a statement by his Director-General of Media and Communications, Mr Solomon Kumangar, Governor Fintiri said the victory was a reaffirmation of the people’s mandate and he will not let the people down.

“I am firmly resolved to work for your good. I will not let you down.

“Governor Umaru Fintiri lauded the Election Petition Tribunal for being upright and just and thanked the citizens of Adamawa State for their support and prayers,” the statement said.
