Buhari Not Marrying A Second Wife Today

Speculations which began since Thursday have continued to point to alleged plans by President Muhammadu Buhari to marry another wife.

The viral media posts claim President Buhari is set to marry Sadia Farouq, the incumbent Minister for Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management.

The reports further claim the wedding is planned to hold on Friday (today) at the Presidential Villa in Abuja after the Friday prayers.

The rumours have been attracting various reactions from Nigerians with many taking to the micro-blogging site, Twitter to express their opinions.

However as previously published by Naija News, Chief Dele Momodu, a former presidential candidate and publisher said nothing of such is set to happen on the said date.

“I have been inundated with calls, and social media is awash, about the news of the President’s impending wedding fatiha tomorrow; let me disappoint the rumour-mongers that nothing of the sort is happening tomorrow, according to my own impeccable sources… Fingers crossed…,” he tweeted.

Similarly, Mr. Femi Adesina, the special adviser to the president on media and publicity has been quoted when contacted by The Tribune as denying claims that President Buhari is set to marry a new wife on Friday.

Adesina who denied the claim, described the rumours as a deceptive manoeuvre by those who reportedly fabricated it.

He authoritatively confirmed that there was no marriage taking place at the Presidential Villa as stated in the viral claim.

Similarly, Minister Sadiya Umar Farouq also posted a series of photos and messages on her Twitter account on Friday which indicates she is currently outside the country to attend a meeting.

Naija News, therefore reports that though President Buhari is permitted by his religion to marry another wife, no wedding is taking place between Buhari and Farouq at the Presidential Villa on Friday, 11th October 2019.
