Troops Kill Bandit Kingpins In Zamfara

The Nigeria Army has rescued six students of Government Day Secondary School Gwagwada in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State abducted on their way to school on Thursday morning.

Naija News reports that this is coming barely a week after eight people comprising six female students and two teachers were abducted by gunmen who attacked a private secondary school in Kaduna State.

This online platform gathered that the gunmen entered the school through a broken fence and headed for the female hostel, where six students were abducted.

The gunmen during the early morning raid also kidnapped two teachers said to be residing inside the school compound.

Naija News reports that the kidnappers who had previously demanded a ransom of N50 million later requested for N80 million.

But, speaking on the incident, the Deputy Director Public Relations of 1Division Nigeria Army Kaduna, Col. Ezindu Idimah said three motor boys were rescued while four suspected bandits were neutralised by the troops.

He said troop were on routine patrol in the general area when they received information from a reliable source that some bandits had abducted some students on their way to school.

“Troops immediately swung into action and gave the bandits a hot chase.

“On sighting the troops, the bandits engaged them in a firefight but had to surrender to the superior firepower of the troops.

“Following the firefight, one of the bandits was neutralized while the rest scampered into different directions of the forest with gun shot wounds,” Idimah said.

According to him, all the students abducted by the bandits were rescued safely and re-united with their families.

Colonel Idimah also disclosed that the trops are currently combing the entire forest in search of the bandits.
