1. Buhari Govt Plans Return Of Toll Gates On Federal Roads

The Federal Government led by President Muhammadu Buhari says that plans were at the advanced stage to return toll gates on the federal highways.

Naija News reports that the Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola made this known on Wednesday while briefing State House Correspondents after the Federal Executive Council (FEC), meeting presided over by President Buhari at the Council Chamber, Presidential Villa Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

2. President Buhari Departs Abuja For South Africa

Muhammadu Buhari, Nigeria’s president in the afternoon hours of Wednesday, October 2, departed the presidential wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, Nigeria for his trip to South Africa.

Naija News understands that the President who is in the company of entourage is on a three-day official visit to South Africa.

3. Tribunal Delivers Final Judgment On Ganduje’s Election

The Kano State Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Kano, northern Nigeria, has affirmed the election of Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje Of All Progressives Congress (APC), Nigeria’s ruling party.

A former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Prof. Charles Soludo has revealed that he was recently advised by a friend to reject an appointment by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Soludo made the revelation when he appeared as one of the speakers at The Platform 2019 which is an annual conference organised by Covenant Christian Centre in Lagos.

The Sokoto State Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, has affirmed the election of Governor Aminu Tambuwal of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Nigeria’s main opposition party.

7. CBN Issues Fresh Directive To Banks On Giving Loans

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has given commercial banks a December 31, 2019 deadline to raise their loan-to-deposit ratio from 60 to 65 percent.

The new directive was contained in a letter signed by the Director of Banking and Supervision, Bello Hassan, to all banks on, “Regulatory measures to improve lending to the real sector of the Nigerian economy.”

The Plateau State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Plateau, northern Nigeria, has affirmed the election of Governor Simon Lalong of All Progressives Congress (APC), Nigeria’s ruling party.

9. Governor Obaseki Of Edo State Sacks All SAs, SSAs

Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has in a shock move, sacked all his Special Assistants and Senior Special Assistants.

The Governor had appointed 192 Special Assistants representing each ward in the state and 54 Senior Special Assistants comprising three persons from each local government areas.

10. Fear Of Fulani Herdsmen, Islamization Nigeria’s Problem – Miyetti Allah

The Chairman of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, (MACBAN), Gidado Siddiki has said the fear of Fulani herdsmen and Islamic dominance is behind Nigeria current challenges.

In a statement on Tuesday to mark Nigeria’s 59th Independence anniversary, Miyetti Allah‘s leader said such fear has provoked rumours of Islamisation and Fulanisation agendas in Nigeria.
