Tribunal Delivers Final Judgment On Lalong’s Election

The Plateau State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Plateau, northern Nigeria, has affirmed the election of Governor Simon Lalong of All Progressives Congress (APC), Nigeria’s ruling party.

Naija News reports that the Plateau State Election Petition Tribunal delivered the final judgment on the Plateau governorship election on Wednesday, October 2.

This online news platform understands that the Tribunal struck out the entire petition brought before it by Jerry Useni and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), challenging the declaration of Governor Lalong as the winner of the March 9 governorship election in the state by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Naija News recalls that a court had asked INEC to allow the PDP scrutinise the election materials used during the election, a judgment PDP’s Useni described at the time as “a bold move in the pursuit of justice.”
