Zamfara state governor, Bello Matawalle has shut down Shattima Model Primary School, Gusau, and suspended staff of the school over the desecration of the Holy Qur’an in the school.

Naija News understands that the school has also been shut pending the completion of full investigation by the state Basic Education Commission.

This was made known in a statement issued in Gusau on Saturday by Yusuf Idris, the Director-General, Press Affairs to the governor.

That pages of the Holy Qur’an were reportedly discovered around 11 am on Friday morning in the sewage of the school.

The incidents were reported to have occurred at Danturai Primary school, State Library, Farida General Hospital and Rabi’a Jumaat Mosque, among others, all within Gusau metropolis.

While reacting to the development, the Governor was reported to have assured that the government would fish out the perpetrators.

He directed the immediate deployment of three additional security guards to all public primary schools in the state capital to beef up security in the schools.

He said the government would not necessitate dealing ruthlessly with anyone found culpable and urged residents to be more vigilant.

The Governor, however, urged the people of the state to report suspicious movements in their areas to security agencies or Shariah commission officials.
