Senate Begins Screening Of Buhari's Ministerial Nominees

The 9th Nigerian Senate has summoned the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami as well as the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele over Process and Industrial Development (P&ID) Limited $9.6billion penalty awarded against Nigeria.

Naija News reports that the Senate led by Senator Ahmad Lawan summoned AGF Malami and the CBN Governor alongside other relevant government agencies after a closed-door session on Tuesday, September 24.

The Senate, it was learned, summoned them to brief it on the details of the Gas contract to the Process and Industrial Development (P&ID) Limited and the $9.6billion penalty awarded against Nigeria.

Naija News recalls that a British court gave P&ID the nod to seize Nigerian assets worth $9 billion on Friday, August 16.

This online news platform understands that a deal agreement, to build a gas processing plant in Calabar in 2010, which collapsed because Nigeria did not meet its end of the bargain, is the case in contention.
