Nigeria’s Ex-Finance Minister, Okonjo-Iweala Loses Dad

Prof Chukwuka Okonjo, the Obi of Ogwashi Uku, Aniocha South L.G.A, Delta State and father to Nigeria’s former Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala is dead.

Naija News understands that Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala lost her father at the prime age of 91 in the United States of America.

The late monarch, who was a professor of mathematics, ascended the throne of his ancestors in 2007.

The late king began his career as an academic at the Economics Department of the University of Ibadan in 1963 where he founded the first Center for Demography in Nigeria in partnership with Prof John Caldwell of the Australian National University.

He was also the former Pro-Chancellor, University of Ilorin.
