Most British air flights were canceled earlier today as the  British airways pilot started a forty-eight hours national strike over a pay dispute.

The British Airline Pilots Association (BAPA) General Secretary Brian Strutton while speaking on the pay dispute said the strike was necessitated at this time as the pilots were willing to compromise but BA was not prepared to “budge”.

“We hope we can find a way of resolving this dispute,”

Speaking further to BBC Radio, he said;

“We’ve been trying very hard to do so for the best part of nine months now but here we are now sadly having to take industrial action.”

“Pilots had to accept significant pay cuts during difficult times, and now that the airline was making money, it should give something back to its pilots.“It is time to get back to the negotiating table and put together a serious offer that will end this dispute.’

He announced that a second strike is planned for September 27.

Meanwhile, the British Airways chief executive Alex Cruz has also pleaded with the pilot association to continue talks to end the strike.
