Breaking: Tribunal Sacks Delta PDP Senator

The election of James Manager, the lawmaker representing Delta South Senatorial district at the Nigerian Senate, has been nullified by the Delta State National Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal.

Naija News reports that the judgment was given by the Chairman of the three-man panel, Justice E.I. Ngene on Saturday, September 7.

This online news platform understands that the sacked Senator Manager was elected on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Nigeria’s main opposition party.

Before the judgment, Senator Manager’s election was opposed at the tribunal by Emmanuel Uduaghan, a former governor of the state and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Thomson Okpoko (SAN), the counsel to Uduaghan, told the tribunal that the February 23 National Assembly elections in the district were marred by massive rigging.

Uduaghan’s counsel prayed the panel to cancel the election and order a fresh election.

The tribunal in its ruling cancelled Senator Manager’s election and ordered for a fresh one within 90 days.
