1. Sanusi, Fayemi, El-Rufai Dine In South Africa Amid Xenophobic Attacks On Nigerians

The Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, has been spotted dining in South Africa alongside Governors Kayode Fayemi and Nasir El-Rufai of Ekiti and Kaduna states respectively amid the Xenophobic attacks on Nigerians in the country.

The development is coming after Nigerians raised the alarm over the appearance of Jim Ovia and other Nigerians including a former minister Oby Ezekwesili at the World Economic Forum Africa 2019, taking place in Cape Town, South Africa.

2. Tribunal Sacks APC House Of Reps Member, Orders PDP To Take Over

The National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Calabar, on Wednesday sacked Mr Alex Egbonna of the All Progressive Congress (APC) representing Abi/Yakurr Federal Constituency of Cross River.

In nullifying Egbonna’s election, the tribunal also upheld the petition filed by Mr John- Gaul Lebo, who contested for the constituency seat on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

3. Tiv/Jukun Crisis: CAN Calls For Peaceful Resolution

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has appealed to the warring tribes of Jukun and Tiv in Taraba and Benue States to embrace peace.

The appeal was contained in a press statement on Thursday in Abuja by the CAN President, His Eminence, Rev Dr Samson Ayokunle which was signed by his Media Assistant, Pastor Adebayo Oladeji.

4. FG Explains Why Govs Fayemi, El-Rufai And Emir Sanusi Are In South Africa

The Federal Government has defended the presence of Governors Nasir El-Rufai, Kayode Fayemi and Emir Lamido Sanusi in South Africa.

This is coming after the backlash which greeted pictures of the identified Nigerian leaders dining at the World Economic Forum Africa 2019, taking place in Cape Town, South Africa.

5. Xenophobia: Most Videos About Attacks In S/Africa Are Fake – Lai Mohammed

Nigerians have been advised to stop the spread of fake videos of purported attacks on citizens in South Africa.

The advise was given by Lai Mohammed, minister of information and culture while claiming that some people are using these fake news/videos to foment trouble in the country.

6. Dino Melaye Rejects Kogi PDP Governorship Primary Results, Cites Reasons

The senator representing Kogi West at the Nigerian Senate, Senator Dino Melaye, has rejected the outcome of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship primary election.

Senator Melaye, whose senatorial election was recently nullified by the Kogi State National Assembly/State Assembly election petition tribunal, contested the primary election alongside other candidates.

7. South African Foreign Minister Speaks On Real Reason Nigerians, Foreigners Are Being Attacked

South Africa’s Foreign Minister, Naledi Pandor, has today blamed prejudice against people from other African countries as one of the causes behind the recent deadly attacks on foreign-owned businesses.

This is just as Pretoria was forced to shut its embassy in Nigeria due to fear of retaliatory attacks.

8. Xenophobia: South Africa High Commission Shuts Down Office In Nigeria

With the high tension of reprisal attack on South African businesses in Nigeria, South Africa Embassy in Nigeria has been closed till further notice.

The High Commissioner, Amb. Bobby Moroe, who confirmed the closure said that he had directed the Mission to suspend all consular activities until the situation improved.

9. Jim Ovia Bows To Pressure, Withdraws From World Economic Forum

The Founder and Chairman of Zenith Bank Plc, Jim Ovia, has withdrawn from further activities at the World Economic Forum Africa 2019, taking place in Cape Town, South Africa.

The development is coming after Nigerians raised the alarm over the appearance of Mr. Ovia and other Nigerians including a former minister Oby Ezekwesili at the WEF amid the going rage in the country over the killings of Nigerians in South Africa.

10. Xenophobia: Why I Am Attending WEF In South Africa – Ezekwesili

Former Minister of Education Oby Ezekwesili has explained why she is attending the World Economic Forum (WEF) in South Africa despite the Nigerian government’s withdrawal from the event.

Naija News reports that Bashir Ahmaad, an aide to President Muhammadu Buhari, in a post on Twitter had called out Ezekwesili over her attendance.
