1. Nigeria Shuns World Economic Forum Meeting Over Xenophobic Attacks

Nigeria has boycotted the World Economic Forum on Africa holding in Capetown, South Africa, between the Sept. 4 to Sept 6.

The decision of the Federal Government is linked with the renewed xenophobic attacks on Nigerians and other foreigners in South Africa.

2. Wada Emerges As PDP Gov Candidate In Kogi

Reports reaching Naija News reveal that Engr. Musa Wada has on Wednesday emerged as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to represent the party in the Saturday, November 16 governorship election in Kogi state.

Naija News understands that Musa Wada scored 748 votes to clinch the party ticket.

3. High Commissioner Finally Speaks On Shutting Gate Against Nigerians in S. Africa

Nigeria High Commissioner to South Africa, Amb. Kabiru Bala, has said that the missions never shut its door against Nigerians who came to register their grievances over the xenophobic attack in that country

Naija News understands that Bala said this in a telephone conversation with the Nigerian journalists from Pretoria, South Africa on Wednesday, September 4.

4. Nigeria Recalls Ambassador To South Africa

Reports reaching Naija News indicate that Nigeria’s High Commissioner to South Africa, Ambassador Kabiru Bala, has been recalled by the Nigerian authority.

Naija News understands that Ambassador Bala was recalled following the xenophobic attacks melted on Nigerians in South Africa.

5. Wadume: Police Inspector Investigating Suspected Kidnapper Dies

A Police inspector serving with the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) of the force has been confirmed dead in a car accident which occurred in Ibi Taraba State.

Four other police officers and five arrested suspects were also reported injured in the accident which occurred at about 6pm, on Monday September 2.

6. FG Reveals Date To Submit 2020 Budget To Nass

The Minister of Finance, Mrs Zainab Ahmed, on Wednesday, disclosed that President Muhammadu Buhari will submit the 2020 budget to the National Assembly by the end of September.

The Minister made this known in her opening remarks at a high-level roundtable on National Donor Coordination in Abuja on Wednesday which resulted in the decision to create a Donor Coordinating Unit.

7. South African Ambassador Lied About Attacks On Nigerians – Presidency

The Presidency on Tuesday disagreed with the South African Ambassador to Nigeria, Bobby Monroe on the killing of Nigerians and other foreigners in the country.

Recall Monroe had during a joint press conference with Nigeria’s foreign affairs minister, Geoffrey Onyeama maintained that the attacks on Nigerians in South Africa are ‘sporadic acts of violence’ and not xenophobic attacks as widely believed.

8. Xenophobic Attack: MTN Orders Closure Of Offices Nationwide

South Africa owned telecommunications company, MTN has shut down its offices in Nigeria over the recent reprisal which follows the xenophobic attack by South Africans on Nigerians.

The telecommunications company who confirmed the closure through a statement released earlier on Wednesday, said it has confirmed attacks on its facilities in Lagos, Ibadan, and Uyo.

9. Xenophobia: Police Take Over As Abuja Shoprite, MTN Office Are Attacked

Angry protesters on Wednesday morning stormed the Lugbe, Abuja location of Shoprite in the capital city of Nigeria as well as MTN offices.

The protesters who had surrounded the mall were trying to forcefully gain entrance into the main building but are being resisted by police officers.

10. APC Declares Winner Of Bayelsa Gov’ship Primary

David Lyon on Wednesday emerged the winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primaries in Bayelsa State.

Naija News reports that the APC in Bayelsa has insisted on the choice of direct primaries to select the candidate to fly its flag in the Nov. 16 governorship election in Bayelsa.
