The National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has again postponed the Bayelsa State governorship primary to Tuesday and Wednesday.

Naija News reports that the APC had earlier moved its governorship primary in Bayelsa State to Saturday, August 31, 2019.

The ruling party at the national level had originally scheduled the primary election for August 29.

Naija News understands that some aggrieved members of the APC, Japan Christopher, Evinson Oyindeyinfa, Oddu Ovinmiebi and Obiriki Isaiah, on Thursday, obtained an interim order stopping the party’s primary from the High Court presided over by Justice E. G. Omukoro.

The order was issued by a State High Court sitting in Sagbama.

In a statement on Friday, the National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Lanre Issa-Onilu, disclosed that the change of date was due to a court order.

“In deference to a court order, the National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress has shifted the date for the Bayelsa governorship primary till Tuesday and Wednesday, September 3 and 4, 2019,” the statement said.
