Oyo State Assembly Set To Reduce 2019 Proposed Budget

The Oyo state house of assembly started a review on the 2019 fiscal budget submitted by Senator Abiola Ajimobi, the former governor of the state.

The review is based on the N285 billion-plus an approved budget for 2019.

There has been a decision to restructure the budget by slashing unnecessary bills following the conference anchored by Mr Adebo Ogundoyin over the second reading of the 2019 budget.

Naija News recalls that Ajimobi submitted an estimated budget of two hundred and eighty-five billion naira (N285,000, 000, 000. 00) for the fiscal year 2019 on 31st December 2018 to the State House of Assembly.

Seyi Makinde, the present governor of Oyo state is making an effort to see to the reduction of the 2019 proposed budget by forty percent thereby presenting a new budget of N171 billion.

Following the second reading at the conference, the bills were referred to the House Committee on Public Account, Finance and Appropriation.

Ogundoyin stated that the proposed budget was presented by the former governor and passed on to the current government and does not portray the ideas of the new government.

He, however, admonished members of the House Committee on public account, finance and appropriation that there should be a proper evaluation on the proposed budget in accordance with the vision of the present government.

Abiodun Fadeyi, The Deputy Speaker, Sanjo Adedoyin, Majority Leader, and Asimiyu Alarape, the Minority Leader stated that there should be appropriate restructure of funds in respect to different portfolios and Agencies of government in the said budget.
