The governor of Ogun State, southwest Nigeria, Dapo Abiodun, has inaugurated the Committee on the Review of Appointments and Promotions in the State Civil Service and Enterprises to probe appointments and promotions under Ibikunle Amosun‘s administration.

Naija News reports that Governor Abiodun inaugurated the Committee in his Office at Oke-Mosan in Abeokuta on Wednesday, August 28, to review appointments and promotions in the State Civil Service and Enterprises between February 1 and May 29, 2019.

This, the Ogun State government said, was to reposition the civil and public service for efficient service delivery for the people.

According to the governor, “Ogun State public service is renowned for its professionalism, commitment, and dedication and it occupies an environment let position in the comity of State in the nation.

“This is the State of Simeon Adebo and A. k Degun. The State has produced Giants who laid the foundation of public service in Nigeria”, he said.

Giving a reason for the decision of his administration to probe the past government, Governor Abiodun said the feedback received by his administration on the appointment of some people into positions of responsibility was unsatisfactory hence the setting up of the committee.

According to the Governor, the Committee is to ascertain whether there are establishment vacancies for all posts and grade levels, to review and establish the procedures for appointment in line with Public Service Regulations and Extant Rules.

The Ogun State Governor said the Committee is to recommend to government appropriate course of action on the appointments.

Governor Abiodun said the Committee which has four weeks to submit its report, is made up of qualified people who know the workings in the public service, calling on the people to give the members adequate cooperation.

Reacting to the governor’s statement, Dipo Odulate, the Chairman and former Head of Service, said his team would leave no stone unturned in discharging its assignment as it was poised to work assiduously, transparently and be fair to all.

Meanwhile, other members of the Committee are Elder Sola Adeyemi, Alhaji Kehinde Ogunfow Odu, Chief Jide Oyeti, Alhaji Ambali Isola, Mrs. Moyosore Olowonmi, Mrs. Stanley Olufunmilayo, while Mr. Nurudeen Oyedele, would serve as the Secretary.
