The Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, on Monday, revoked the alleged N7 billion contract awarded for Moniya-Iseyin road by the former Governor of the state, Abiola Ajimobi.

The Governor noted that the road was central to the government’s resolve to promote agribusiness, Makinde said: “the previous government awarded the contract to an Engineering firm that did not have the capacity to handle the project”.

Makinde noted that though the owner of the firm is a friend of his, he could not mix friendship with the dealings of government.

The Governor in a statement through his Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Taiwo Adisa, said, “contract was revoked” to enable him “address the challenges of moving farm produce around the state”.

“The state government would go ahead to re-award the contract”, noting that, “when completed, the road would redress the challenges of moving farm produce from Oke Ogun area to Ibadan, the state capital.”

Makinde maintained that Oyo was ready for agribusiness, stressing that since his administration had promised to expand the state’s economy through agribusiness, the state was set to turn farm settlements around.
