FBI Arrests ‘Many’ Nigerians In US Over Fraud

The United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has revealed that it has arrested many Nigerians in an ongoing investigation related to fraud cases.

Naija News reports US attorney, Nick Hanna, made this disclosure during a press conference on Thursday, August 22.

During the press conference, the US attorney revealed that a total of 80 suspects “many of whom are from Nigeria” have been arrested and charged to court with 57 more being hunted globally

Boko Haram Hits Borno Town, Burn INEC Office, Houses

An attack has been carried out in Gubio, a town in Borno state by suspected Boko Haram insurgents, displacing thousands of people in the process.

A report monitored on TheCable by Naija News, quoted sources to have said that the Boko Haram insurgents invaded the town around 5 pm on Wednesday, August 21, shooting sporadically and setting many houses on fire.

It was learned that the Boko Haram insurgents have been around Gubio communities for at least three months as a result of the relocation of the brigade headquarters from the town

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Nigeria’s electoral umpire, has released a timeline for conduct of Kogi and Bayelsa governorship primaries.

Naija News reports that INEC released the timeline in a circular posted on the micro-blogging site, Twitter on Thursday night, August 22.

The timetable sighted by Naija News shows that the start date for the conduct of primaries and resolution of all matters or disputes has been slated for August 18, 2019

Naija News learnt that justice Chuka Obiozor made the order on August 8, 2019, in a ruling at a Federal High Court in Lagos. According to the court order, AMCON and United Bank for Africa (UBA) are to seize the property of Donald Duke over an alleged N537,334,360.77 debt

Lawmaker Kidnapped In Sokoto State By Suspected Hoodlums

The lawmaker representing Denge/Shuni State Constituency at the Sokoto State House of Assembly, Aminu Magaji Bodai, has been kidnapped.

According to a report from a close relation of the lawmaker, he was kidnapped by hoodlums around 1:15 am between Dange and Bodai town on Thursday.

“I can confirm to you that my brother was kidnapped by yet-to-be-identified persons.” His whereabouts are unknown yet and his abductors are yet to contact his family members.”

The abduction of the lawmaker has been confirmed by the state Police Command.
