With the return of the minister of labour, Dr Chris Ngige, the Joint Public Service Negotiating Council and the Federal Government have agreed to meet on the consequential adjustment of the new minimum wage.

Naija News recalls that negotiations on the consequential adjustment on the new minimum wage has been stalled due to the disagreement between the two parties.

According to the sources, both parties will be meeting today Friday, August 23.

Naija News learnt that Labour unions are demanding 30% adjustment for workers on grade levels 07-14 and 25% for levels 15-17, but the government is offering 9.5 and 5% respectively.

A formal agreement on the consequential agreement is delaying the implementation of the new minimum wage signed into law on April 18 by President Muhammadu Buhari.
