Buhari Rejects Oyo-Ita’s ‘Early’ Retirement

President Muhammadu Buhari has rejected the early retirement of Winifred Oyo-Ita, the Head of Service of the Federation.

Naija News reports that Oyo-Ita returned to her desk on Thursday, August 22, following the rejection.

This online news platform recalls that Oyo-Ita sent in her letter directly to President Buhari last weekend following pressure mounted on her to quit the job by her family.

Naija News understands that Oyo-Ita’s decision to retire came after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) recently questioned her over allegations that she used front companies to get contracts when she was a permanent secretary before her appointment as head of Service by the President in 2015.

The head of Service of the Federation was, however, absent from public functions after the EFCC grilling, but was sighted at the swearing-in of ministers after meeting with the chief of staff to the president, Abba Kyari.

Reports reveal that President Buhari was displeased with the insinuations that she was being victimised and eventually turned down her offer to retire.
