INEC Slams Atiku’s Claims Before Tribunal
The electoral body further submitted that the suit by Atiku and the Peoples Democratic Party challenging the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress at the February 23 presidential election in Nigeria is a sheer waste of the court’s time.
INEC said this when its lawyer, Yunus Usman (SAN) made its final submissions before the tribunal on Wednesday.
It also denied claims that INEC used a server for the 2019 general elections in the country as alleged by Atiku and his team.
Usman said: “This is a worthless petition. INEC did not abandon its pleadings. It only extracted salient evidence from their (petitioners) witnesses.
“It would have been a waste of the court’s time to call witnesses when the petitioners failed to prove anything and admitted the issues we advanced in our pleadings
“We urge the court to dismiss this petition, which was meant to test the water with two legs, and they are now falling.”
