The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has urged the presidential election petition tribunal to dismiss the suit filed before it by Atiku Abubakar and his team. The electoral body further submitted that the suit by Atiku and the Peoples Democratic Party challenging the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress at the February 23 presidential election in Nigeria is a sheer waste of the court’s time.

The governor of Lagos State, Nigeria’s commercial city, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has officially appointed Gboyega Akosile as his Chief Press Secretary. Naija News reports that the new Chief Press Secretary was earlier appointed Deputy Chief Press Secretary in May after Sanwo-Olu’s inauguration.
