We Are Not After Northerners, IPOB Tells Gumi

The Leader of proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu has offered N1m reward to anyone who can provide credible information on the overseas travel itinerary of Southeast governors and Igbo leaders.

Naija News had reported earlier that Senator Ike Ekweremadu was attacked by the IPOB members in Nuremberg, Germany on Saturday, August 17.

This online news platform understands that Ekweremadu was attacked during the annual cultural festival of the Ndigbo, apex social-cultural group in the south-east.

Speaking after the ugly incident in a statement issued by Uche Anichukwu, his media aide, Ekweremadu assured Ndigbo and his supporters across the nation that he was safe.

“I attended the Second Annual Cultural Festival and Convention organised by Ndi-Igbo Germany in Nurnberg today where I was billed to give a keynote address along with the President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Nnia Nwodo, who, however, could not make it eventually,” he said in the statement.

“I was given a resounding welcome by Ndigbo in Germany and everything went smoothly until some men, who identified themselves as IPOB members stormed the venue and began to complain about the killings in the South East, stressing that there would be no Igbo event at the venue.

“I tried to engage them, but when they became unruly, I had to leave the venue. The organisers also invited the police and I was accompanied out of the venue,” Ekweremadu said.

Reacting in a Sunday broadcast on Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu said a member of the group has made the money available for information anytime Governors of the Southeast and other leaders from the zone are travelling.

Kanu stated that the pro-Biafra group was against the southeast governor because they proscribed the group.

“They and not the Federal Government of Nigerian proscribed IPOB.

“They said they proscribed IPOB to douse rising tension in the region. What caused the tension, because the Milliary raided my house in Umuahia,” Kanu said.

Ekweremadu

On the attack on former Deputy Senate President Ike Ekeremadu, the IPOB leader said the senator collaborated with the governors to proscribed his group.

“They also brought the Army to raid my House in Umuahia. How many times has he spoken against the killings and kidnappings happening in his own state?

“He went to celebrate New Yam Festival in Germany when his people are being killed and our women being raped. Where did they get the new Yam because there is none in Igboland since all the farmlands have been destroyed by herdsmen”.

Nwodo and Buratai

Apart from the Governors, the IPOB leader listed others on the group’s overseas watchlist to include Ohaneze Ndigbo President-General, Nnia Nwodo and Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai.

Kanu accused Nwodo of accusing Igbo youths of carrying out the recent killings, kidnappings and other criminal activities in the Southeast especially in Enugu State.

Speaking on Buratai, the IPOB leader said the group will never forgive him for his role in various killings and atrocities allegedly committed by the Military in the southeast.
