The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has told corps members to be patient on the expected payment of N30,000 as monthly allowance. The NYSC Director-General, Shuaibu Ibrahim disclosed the scheme is yet to receive any directive from the federal government on the payment of N30,000.

2. NYSC Fixes Date To Begin Batch B Stream II Orientation

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members deployed to Katsina State will begin their 2019 Batch B Stream 2 Orientation Course on Tuesday, 20th August. A statement by the NYSC spokesman for Katsina State, Alex Obemeata, revealed that the programme will take place at the NYSC permanent orientation camp, MD Yusuf Complex, Mani Road, Katsina.

3. Shiites Vs Police: Injured NYSC Member Narrates Ordeal

Few days after the violent protest by members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, a National Youth Service Corps member, Aliyu Suleiman, one of those attacked during the protest has been discharged from hospital. NYSC revealed this in a statement on its official Facebook page, the Scheme added that it would take responsibility for his bills and medical treatment henceforth.

4. NYSC Sends Remains Of Corp Member To Parents

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has sent the corpse of Precious Owolabi, corp member attached to Channels television who was killed during Shiites’ Monday protest, to his family in Abuja. Naija News understands that the Corp made this known in a statement by the Director of Press and Public Relations, NYSC, Mrs. Adenike Adeyemi.

5. NYSC Gives Update On Corps Members N30,000 Allowance

The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brig. Gen. Shuaibu Ibrahim, has dismissed reports that it will start paying corps members N30,000 allowance this July. Speaking to PRNigeria on Wednesday, Ibrahim revealed that the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration is yet to give NYSC a go-ahead on the implementation of the new national minimum wage.

6. Graduates Who Skip NYSC Can Contest For Governorship – Court Insists

A federal capital territory (FCT) high court has ruled that graduates who didn’t take part in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme can’t be disqualified from governorship election. This was stated following a suit brought against Ogun state governor, Dapo Abiodun, by Iyabo Anisulowo, a former senator.

7. NYSC Reacts To Alleged Islamisation Of Benue Camp By General Shuaibu

The National Youth Service Corps has reacted to the claim that General Ibrahim Shuaibu, the Director-General of the scheme plans to Islamise Corps members in Benue State orientation camp. This came as a result of an allegation by the Coalition for Peace and Justice that DG of NYSC expressed anger that there was no mosque in the camp and ordered the Benue State Coordinator to build a mosque immediately.
