Just In: Finally, Obono-Obla Breaks Silence After Sack As SPIP Chairman

Okoi Obono-Obla, the Chairman of the Special Investigation Panel for the Recovery of Public Property (SPIP), has been suspended by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Naija News reports that Obono-Obla’s suspension was made known by the Presidency in a series of tweets on Wednesday night, August 14.

This online news platform understands that Obono-Obla’s suspension is to take effect immediately until completion of the ongoing investigations by ICPC.

The tweets read: “President Buhari has directed the suspension from office, with immediate effect, of the Chairman of the Special Investigation Panel for the Recovery of Public Property, Mr. Okoi Obono-Obla.

“The suspension shall be in effect until the conclusion of ongoing @ICPC_PE investigations into a number of cases relating to Mr. Obono-Obla.”

Meanwhile, Naija News reports that Obono-Obla’s suspension is coming after the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) earlier sealed the office of SPIP Chairman.

The sealing of Obono-Obla’s office came on the heels of his rumoured sack as the chairman of the panel on recovery of public property.

DCP Frank Mba, the Police Force Public Relations Officer, who confirmed the seal-off of Obono-Obla’s office, noted that the action was carried out based on a complaint said to have emanated from the Federal Government.
