Table Tennis: Aruna Qadri Retains Nigeria’s Open Title Championship

Nigeria’s highest-ranking table tennis player, Aruna Qadri has once again retained the Open Men’s Singles title championship on Sunday in Lagos.

Quadri, ranked number 22 in the world, went on a thrilling six games decider (15-13, 11-3, 8-11, 11-6, 10-12, 11-1) to defeat world ranked number 64, Gardos, at the Molade Okoya-Thomas Hall of the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos.

Naija News understands that he is the second player to defend the title after Omar Assar of Egypt on Sunday evening. This is also Quadri’s second time of winning the tournament which is in its sixth year.

Meanwhile, Russia’s Mikhailova Polina claimed the women’s singles final by defeating her fellow counterpart, Noskova Yana in a come-back seven set, 11-6, 11-6, 11-6, 8-11, 3-11, 13-15, 13-15.
