The leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), also known as the Shiites, Sheikh Ibraheem El-Zakzaky and his wife, Zeenat, on Monday night, left the country for India.
They flew out to India on an Emirate flight from the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
Naija News recalls that El-Zakzaky and his wife were arrested on December 2015 and have remained in DSS detention since, amidst reports of deteriorating health.
Recall that Justice Darius Khobo of the Kaduna state High Court had on 5th August, granted the embattled leader of the IMN leave to travel out for treatment.
He, however, added that the trip will be under the supervision of the state.
After the court order, the Department of State Services (DSS) in a statement released by its spokesperson, Peter Afunanyadisclosed it is already working to ensure their release from detention in compliance with the court order.
