Operatives of the Nigerian Army have apprehended notorious cultists in the state including Bobrisky who had since been on the wanted list.
Naija News understands that the Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike announced the capture of Bobrisky on Friday.
The arrest of Bobrisky comes after Wike had placed a N30 million reward for those with useful information that would lead to the capture of the notorious cult kingpin in the state.
Bobrisky was arrested by the operatives of the Nigerian Army on Friday, in just 24-hours after he was declared wanted on Thursday.
Governor Wike disclosed the arrest of Bobrisky during a security meeting with leaders of Rumuolumeni Community at the Government House Port Harcourt, the Rivers state capital.
In his words, Wike said; “the Army has captured Bobrisky of Gokana. I will pay the bounty that I promised to the Nigerian Army. Anyone who generates insecurity in Rivers State, I am ready to pay any amount to ensure the arrest of that person.”
The governor appealed to community leaders to give useful information to the State Security Council on criminals in their communities for the security agencies to act frontally to reduce crime.
Wike also lamented that Rumuolumeni had become one of the flashpoints in the state, where criminals use the waterway as a getaway point.
The state Governor urged the people to cooperate with the state government to check the activities of cult groups and insecurity in the area.
While speaking on the increasing spate of cultism and its affiliates in the state, the commissioner of Police, Rivers State, Mustapha Dandaura said almost all communities have been overrun by cultists, but assured that security agency in the state would not allow the situation to degenerate.
