David Luiz Set To Join Arsenal

Arsenal Close To Signing Defensive Reinforcement

Arsenal and Chelsea are understood to have reached an £8 million ($10m) agreement for David Luiz to move to the Emirates Stadium before the current transfer window shuts.

Naija News understands the veteran Brazilian defender is set to sign a two-year deal with the Gunners who are in the market to get defensive reinforcements ahead of the new season.

It becomes more important for Arsenal to sign new defenders following the sale of long-term player and captain, Laurent Koscienly who joined Bordeaux and the sale of Carl Jenkinson to Nottingham Forest.

Chelsea on their part are not in a position to sign a replacement for Luiz due to a two-window transfer ban after FIFA found the club to be in breach of regulations relating to the international transfer and registration of players under the age of 18.

However, Goal reports Luiz missed training with the Blues on Wednesday and the 32-year-old will complete a medical on Thursday ahead of an expected move to the Emirates Stadium.

There are high hopes that Arsenal will also be successful in their attempts to sign Celtic’s Kieran Tierney in a £25m ($30m) deal, with the English side’s first two bids for the Scotland international having been rejected.
