Former Minister of Aviation Femi Fani-Kayode has stated that he successfully stopped plane crashes in Nigeria.

Naija News recalls that Fani-Kayode who served as Minister of Aviation under the administration of President Olusegun Obasanjo also served as a Minister of Culture and Tourism.

In a post on Twitter, he recalled that various plane crashes occurred before he was made Minister of Aviation by Obasanjo.

The former minister, however, stated that he “must have done something right”

Fani-Kayode wrote: “The year before I became Minister of Aviation there were 5 plane crashes with the loss of 453 lives.

“When I became Minister the planes stopped crashing. There was not one crash under my watch.

“When I left the Ministry planes started crashing again. I must have done something right!”

Recall that Passengers on a flight B737 aircraft belonging to AirPeace cheated death on July 23, as the plane lost one of its front tyres at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos State.

The aircraft took off from Port Harcourt, Rivers state but crash-landed as they arrived at the airport in Lagos, even as the female pilot tried to handle the situation.

However, no death nor injury was recorded as emergency personnel were already on ground to control the situation.
