1. Court Grants El-Zakzaky Permission To Travel

The embattled leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky has been granted leave to travel out for treatment.

The order was given on Monday, 5th August by the Kaduna state High Court in a ruling by Justice Darius Khobo.

2. Presidential Tribunal: What The Court Told HDP About Buhari’s Victory

The Presidential Election Petition Tribunal on Monday, reserved judgment in the petition filed by the Hope Democratic Party, HDP, challenging the election victory of President Muhammadu Buhari in the February 23 presidential election.

Naija News reports the tribunal’s decision comes after all parties in the petition adopted their final written addresses.

3. DSS Set To Release El-Zakzaky And Wife

The leader of the proscribed Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky and his wife Zeenat might breathe the air of freedom very soon as the Department of State Services (DSS), is already working to ensure his release from detention.

Naija News had earlier reported today that Justice Darius Khobo of Kaduna state High Court gave El-Zakzaky and his wife Zeenat leave to travel to India for medical attention. He, however, added that the trip will be under the supervision of the state.

4. What Buhari’s New Ministers Must Do Before Inauguration – CCB

With the preparation for the new minister-designate to get their office portfolio, the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) has asked them to declare their assets before inauguration or risk facing the wrath of the law.

The Chairman of CCB, Prof. Muhammed Isah, while speaking on the need for the new ministers to reveal the worth of their wealth as a public official said that none of the new ministers would be inaugurated without first declaring his or her assets.

5. #RevolutionIsNow: Why We Fired At Protesters – Police

The police have justified the decision of its operatives to fire tear gas at some protesters participating in the #RevolutionNow protest in Lagos.

As earlier reported by Naija News, security operatives clashed with some of the protesters at the National Stadium in Lagos state. Tear gas was fired to disperse the crowd gathered around the stadium.

6. Federal Government Budgets N2.2bn For Ruga Policy In 2019

The suspension of the Ruga settlement policy by President Muhammadu Buhari seemed to have created an atmosphere of peace and tranquillity on the issue.

But based on the recent revelation by the aide to President Buhari, Ita Enang, the allocation of 2.2 billion naira in 2019 budgets has raised some fresh concerns.

7. Abuse Of Human Right – Gani Adams Blast DSS Over Sowore’s Detention

Gani Adams, Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland has joined in the call for the release of Omoyele Sowore, the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC).

Recall that Sowore, who is also the publisher of Sahara Reporters and convener, Global Coalition for Security and Democracy in Nigeria, was arrested by officers of the Department of State Services (DSS) over a planned revolutionary protest.

8. Policemen, Soldiers Clash With #RevolutionNow Protesters

Soldiers and policemen on Monday forcefully chased members of the #RevolutionNow movement who had converged at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.

Naija News had reported that security operatives had surrounded the stadium ahead of the protest.

9. IMN Reacts As Court Grants El-Zakzaky, Wife Leave To Travel Out

A Kaduna high court on Monday, granted the request of Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky and his wife Zeenat to travel abroad for medical attention.

In a swift reaction, the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), commended the court order, describing it as a victory for their determination and doggedness in the face of persecution.

10. #RevolutionIsNow: Protesters Sing, Demand Sowore’s Release

Monday, 5th August 2019 witnessed activities of protesters who took to the streets around the National Stadium in Lagos for the #Revolution Now Protest.

As earlier reported by Naija News, the protest has already commenced in Lagos State even as heavily armed security operatives have surrounded the National Stadium.
