Security Operatives Foil Bomb Attempt

The Police have beefed up security in and around Oko Prison in Benin, Edo State following an attempt by some people to bomb the facility.

It was gathered by Naija News that the suspects attempted to use Improvised Explosive Device, (IED) to bomb the building and rescue some arrested kidnappers held in the prison. However, the special police detective squad acting on intelligence report, moved in to foil the attack on the prison, resulting in the arrest of some suspects.

Further information gathered said the suspects stormed the prison facility, armed to the teeth with sophisticated weapons and had planned to kill the security operatives on duty and free some people remanded in the prison.

The State Commissioner of Police, Danmallam Abubakar, who confirmed the incident said a further investigation has been launched into the development.

“The suspects came to free the kidnapers of the managing director of Ogba Zoological garden, Mr Andy Ehanire, which four police were killed during the operation in 2017.

“They have made a confessional statement about their mission,” Daily Post reports.
