1. Presidential Tribunal: Buhari, APC Close Defence

President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC) have closed their defence at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal.

Buhari’s legal team, led by Wole Olanipekun (SAN) and lead lawyer to the APC, Lateef Fagbemi announced the intentions to close their defence when they appeared before the tribunal on Thursday.

2. Local Government Chairman Suspended For Allegedly Protecting Bandits

The chairman of Maradun Local Government, Ahmad Abubakar, has been suspended by the Zamfara State House of Assembly, for working against the security architecture in the state.

Following a petition forwarded to the house against the local government Chairman by six concerned citizens of Maradun Local Government Area, the Speaker of the House, Hon Nasiru Ma’azu Magarya, announced his suspension at a plenary.

3. Shiites: El-Zakzaky’s Daughter Reacts To Suspension Of Protest

Ibraheem El-Zakzaky‘s daughter, Suhaila Zakzaky has insisted that the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), will continue its protests till her father is released.

Suhaila made this known while reacting to a statement from Ibrahim Musa, president of the IMN media forum, that the protests have been suspended.

4. My Life In Danger – Kogi State Deputy Governor, Achuba Cries Out Again

The Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Simon Achuba, has once again raised another alarm over the alleged threat to his life.

Naija News recalls that Mr Achuba earlier this year in February had accused his boss of threatening to kill him. Again, in an interview with pressmen on Thursday at his official residence in Lokoja, the embattled deputy governor alleged Governor Yahaya Bello has detailed gunmen to kill him.

5. Presidential Tribunal: What Atiku’s Team Said After Buhari, APC Closed Defence

Atiku Abubakar, the 2019 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has reacted to the decision of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Muhammadu Buhari to close its defence at the presidential tribunal.

Paul Ibe, media aide to Atiku took to Twitter on Thursday to express his view on the decision by APC and Buhari.

6. Man Arrested For Forging Certificate Of Return, INEC Chairman’s Signature

A man identified as Toluwalope Akanni has been arraigned by the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly forging the Independent National Electoral Commission Certificate of Return and pretending to be a House of Reps member.

The 30-year-old man was accused of forging the signature of Mahmood Yakubu and the Commission’s seal on the Certificate of Return.

7. Sowore To Lead Massive Revolution Protest

Omoyele Sowore, Presidential Candidate of the African Action Congress in the last general election, has called for the support of Nigerian youths for a wide protest with the hashtag “RevolutionNow”.

The protest which is scheduled to hold on the 5th of August, 2019 was announced by Sowore himself through his Twitter page.

8. Atiku vs Buhari: Tribunal Fixes August 21 To Take Important Decision

The Presidential Election Petition Tribunal has fixed a date to adopt the final written addresses of parties in the petition before it on the 2019 presidential election in Nigeria.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Atiku Abubakar are challenging the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress in the Feb.23 election.

9. Presidency Reveals Why Buhari’s Cabinet Is Yet To Be Inaugurated

The presidency has disclosed that the National Assembly is yet to officially communicate President Muhammadu Buhari on the completion of screening for ministerial nominees.

Recall the Senate on Tuesday, completed the screening and confirmed for appointment as substantive ministers of the federal republic of Nigeria, 43 nominees initially sent to it by President Buhari.

10. Kano: APC Suspends Gbajabiamila’s Campaign DG, Jibrin

The campaign Director-General of Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila, Abdulmumin Jibrin, has been suspended by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bebeji LGA in Kano State.

Jibrin, who is a member of the House of Representatives, was suspended over alleged anti-party activities.
