“This process ended today,” added the same source. “We officially inform you that the president has given up his second citizenship, that of the United States. The task has been long and involved legal experts from the US and li naturalization departments.”

Elected President on February 2017, this former Prime Minister had US citizenship after having resided for many years in the United States, where his family still lives.

Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed worked as a diplomat in Washington for lia in the late 1980s, before seeking asylum in the United States.
