1. Shiites Suspend Protest Over El-Zakzaky’s Detention

The Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) also known as Shiites Nigeria on Wednesday announced the temporal suspension of its protest.

IMN has constantly protested the continued detention of its leader, Sheikh Ibraheem El-Zakzaky.

2. Tribunal Sacks PDP National Assembly Member, Replaces Him With APC Candidate

The Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Akure, the capital of Ondo state has sacked Ikengboju Gboluga as the member representing Okitipupa/Irele Federal Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives.

Gboluga was elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

3. What Makes Me Sad About Apapa Gridlock – Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has restated the commitment of his administration to further invest in Nigeria’s infrastructural development.

6. Buhari Reveals When To Assign Portfolios To Cabinet

Muhammadu Buhari, Nigerian President has said he will assign portfolios to his ministerial nominees when the cabinet is officially inaugurated.

Naija News understands that Buhari made this known via his Twitter handle on Tuesday, where he also used the opportunity to applaud the Nigerian Senate for the speedy confirmation of the ministerial nominees he had sent to the red chambers for confirmation.

7. Shiite Group Describes El-Zakzaky Led Movement As Fake, Sends Warning To Saudi, Iran

A faction of the Shiites group, Al-Thaqalayn Cultural Foundation, has described the Islamic Movement of Nigeria led by Ibrahim El-Zakzaky as fake.

The group also sent a warning to the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to desist from using IMN crises to make Nigeria a testing ground for their struggle for regional supremacy.

8. Fuel Tanker Explodes Along Gombe-Bauchi Road

A fuel tanker on Wednesday, exploded in Tunfure along Gombe-Bauchi expressway, Gombe State, leaving a motorcyclist burnt beyond recognition.

10. Recruitment: Police Shortlist Candidates, Reveal Date For Aptitude Test

The Police Service Commission has revealed that 80,724 people have been shortlisted following the screening exercise which was coordinated across states in Nigeria.

PSC in a statement through its spokesperson, Ikechukwu Ani, stated that candidates shortlisted after the screening would sit for an aptitude test on August, 3rd, 2019 across the country.
