1. Lawan Announces Chairmen Of Senate Committees (Full List)

Senate President Ahmad Lawan on Tuesday, 30th July announced the chairmen and vice-chairmen of Standing Committees of the 9th Senate. He announced this during plenary before the Senators proceeded on their annual recess which saw them adjourn plenary till 24th of September, 2019.

2. Oshiomhole Vs Obaseki: Edo Govt Explodes As Senate Orders Fresh Proclamation

Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State warned the Senate not to interfere in the ongoing dispute in the Edo State House of Assembly. Naija News recalls that a rift between the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole and Obaseki had led to the factionalisation of the Edo state assembly.

3. Buhari Presents Documents At Presidential Election Tribunal

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday, presented 26 documents as he opened his defence at the 2019 presidential election petition tribunal. The documents presented by Buhari include copies of his academic credentials, comprising certified true copy (CTC) of the Confidential result sheet of the University of Cambridge, West Africa School Certificate 1961 for Provincial Secondary School, Katsina.

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has warned former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to stop acting as the president of Nigeria. Naija News reports that the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 general election has constantly released statements to newsmen over topical issues in the country.

5. Supreme Court Fixes Date To Hear Atiku’s INEC Server Claim

The Supreme Court has fixed August 20, 2019, to hear an application filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Nigeria’s main opposition party and its Presidential candidate in the 2019 Presidential election, Atiku Abubakar, challenging the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal’s rejection of their request to access the INEC “central server”. Naija News recalls that the former Vice President and his party had prayed the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal to grant them access to inspect the central server allegedly used by INEC to transmit results during the 2019 general elections.
