WAEC Official Confirms Buhari’s Result

A senior official of the West African Examination Council (WAEC) has confirmed the authenticity of the copy of the University of Cambridge school certificate tendered by President Buhari on Tuesday.

This happened when the official, Oshindeinde Henry Adewunmi appeared on Wednesday before the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal as a witness for President Muhammadu Buhari.

Naija News recalls President Buhari had on Tuesday opened his defence in the case instituted by Atiku Abubakar and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) challenging Buhari’s 2019 presidential election victory.

As part of their claims, Atiku and PDP are maintaining that Buhari did not have the secondary school certificate which should qualify him to contest for the office of the president in Nigeria.

Buhari called Adewunmi as his first witness for the second day of his defence before the election tribunal.

Adewunmi identified himself as the Deputy Registrar in Charge of School Examination in Nigeria.

He said he has been with WAEC for 30 years, and confirmed that by the result, Buhari sat for eight subjects and obtained five credits.

He listed the subjects as English C5, History C3, Geography C6, Hausa C5, Health Science C6, noting that a person with such a certificate cannot be said not to have attended secondary school.
