IPOB Speaks On Nnamdi Kanu’s Next Move

The Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB) has disclosed that its embattled leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu will soon make a return to Nigeria.

The group’s spokesperson, Emma Powerful said Kanu will return to Nigeria to mobilise support for the actualization of Biafra as part of his current tour of some countries where he is canvassing support for the group’s secessionist cause.

Naija News recalls the IPOB leader, is standing trial before a federal high court in Abuja for alleged treason but has been out of the country since September, 2017 following a crackdown on the group and its members.

The IPOB group has since been banned and declared a terrorist organization. This forced Kanu to go into hiding only to resurface in Jerusalem after about one year.

His disappearance from the country, forced the court to revoke the bail granted him and issue a bench warrant for his arrest.

Though physically absent from Nigeria, Kanu had been holding town-hall meetings with his followers in various countries and addressing supporters via the online Biafra radio.

Speaking on Kanu’s expected return to Nigeria, Powerful told TheCable on Monday that the IPOB leader will visit Nigeria in the course of the tour, but didn’t disclose when such visit would hold.

“I will not disclose it (when) now until he makes it official for us to tell people,” the IPOB spokesman said over the phone.

“At the appropriate time we (will) communicate (to) you people. Government of Nigeria can do whatever they like. Biafra will come and nobody can stop Biafra.”
