Crystal Palace winger Wilfred Zaha looks set to remain in Selhurst Park next season after Arsenal turned their attention to Lille’s Nicolas Pepe.

Naija News had reported that The Gunners had reached an €80m (£72m) agreement with Lille for Pepe.

Arsenal will pay in instalments and an agreement over a five-year deal is expected to be reached in the next 24/48 hours.

Pepe’s representatives met with Napoli in the week with the Serie A club leading the race to secure his signature amid significant interest.

However, their proposal was reportedly rejected by Pepe’s agent, who is pushing for a move to the Gunners.

Reports in Italy have suggested Arsenal are willing to pay the agents’ fees and commission they desire, placing them in pole position to agree to personal terms.

However, Zaha was the Gunners top transfer target and had tabled a 40 million pounds offer which was rejected by Palace.

Crystal Palace was holding out for close to £80m for the former Manchester United player.

Zaha made no secret of his desire to leave Crystal Palace this summer and had his heart set on a move to boyhood club, Arsenal.

But it now appears Everton is the only club with a firm interest in the winger.
