Shiites Vs Police: Osinbajo Visits Late Precious Owolabi’s Family (Video)

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Sunday paid a visit to the parents of late Precious Owolabi.

Naija News had reported that Owolabi, who was a reporter with Channels TV, was killed during a recent clash between members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) also known as Shiites and operatives of the Nigeria Police.

Owolabi was as a member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

statement released by Channels TV said: “The management and staff of Channels Television are greatly saddened by the untimely and unfortunate death of such a promising journalist.

“They pray that God will grant his family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss, and avail his soul eternal rest.”

Osinbajo announced his visit to the home of the late reporter in a video posted on Twitter.

The Vice President was accompanied by Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State.

Osinbajo expressed sadness over the death of Precious Owolabi, who he described as a bright young man.

He wrote: “Nothing will ever compare with the pain of losing a child.

“This evening, I visited the family of Precious Owolabi and as a nation, we grieve the loss of this bright young man.

“May the Almighty God comfort the family and loved ones.”

Recall that the remains of the slain Channels TV reporter was last Thursday, laid to rest at Wusasa cemetery in Zaria, Kaduna State.

His remains which were deposited at the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Shika, were conveyed to the cemetery as early as 8:20 a.m.

In a white ambulance, he was given final respect and accompanied by his fellow corps members as well as the officials of the NYSC in attendance.

On the arrival of his remains, tears gripped family members as his body lowered into the grave after a funeral service which was followed by a farewell song and final salute conducted by members of the NYSC.
