One of the Ministerial nominees submitted by President Muhammadu Buhari, Abubakar Malami, on Friday spoke on why he disobeyed court orders.

The former Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation noted that he disobeyed court order due to the public interest.

Malami stated this while answering questions at his ministerial screening on the floor of the senate.

While replying the questioned asked by Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, Malami said, “I disobeyed court orders in public interest.”

“It is my desire to operate within the spirit of the constitution of Nigeria that established the need for integration.”

“The office of attorney-general has the responsibility of upholding the public interest. It’s not an office that is targetted at individual interest but public interest. The office is for the interest of 180 million Nigerians as against a single individual.”

“We recorded some modest achievements during my tenure as AGF.”

Recall that the Senate on Wednesday commenced screening for ministerial nominees submitted by President Buhari.
