Four Turkish expatriates have been kidnapped by gunmen at a drinking bar at Gbale village in Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State.

Naija News understands that the foreigners were abducted at about 10 pm on Saturday.

The victims are Yasin Colak, 33, Senerapal, 40, Ergun Yurdakul, 35 and Seyit Keklik, 25.

The victims are said to be expatriates working with Instabul Concrete Ltd in the village.

Confirming the abduction, police spokesperson Ajayi Okasanmi, disclosed that the Kwara State Police Commissioner Kayode Egbetokun had dispatched a team under “Operation Puff Adder” to rescue the expatriates and arrest the hoodlums.

Okasanmi who said the efforts were beginning to yield results, refused to confirm if anybody had been arrested.

In a related development, Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara State disclosed that his administration his working with security agencies to rescue the expatriates.

A statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, read: “The governor is working with security agencies to ensure prompt rescue of the expatriates.

“He urges the people to go about their normal and lawful businesses and not to entertain any fear, as doing so may embolden the criminals.”
