Juve Complete De Ligt Move

Juventus have completed the 75 million euros ($84.25 million) signing of Ajax defender, Matthijs de Ligt who joined the Italian Serie A champions on a five-year contract.

Juve announced the successful deal on Thursday via a statement on its website.

“It’s the news all Bianconeri fans have been waiting to hear all summer: Matthijs de Ligt is officially a Juventus player!” the club said.

Recall Naija News earlier reported that the highly-rated center back had previously agreed personal terms with Juve.

The 19-year-old Netherlands international was highly coveted by several top clubs in Europe including Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona.

He becomes Juve’s seventh major signing of the current transfer window following the earlier arrival of Adrien Rabiot, Aaron Ramsey and Gianluigi Buffon on free transfers, while Luca Pellegrini was purchased from Roma, Merih Demiral arrived from Sassuolo, and Cristian Romero was signed from Genoa.

Naija News understands the defender is set to earn €12m (£11m/$13m) per season – €8m in basic salary with €4m in bonuses.

Furthermore, the deal is set to rise to €85.5m (£77m/€96m) with additional costs.
