Court Postpones Rulings On El-Zakzaky’s Appeal To Travel Abroad For Treatment

Ibrahim El-Zakzaky

The Kaduna State High Court has once again postponed its ruling on the appeal by the embattled leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, for permission to travel abroad for medical treatment.

Naija News understands that the health of the embattled leader has been deteriorating since his detention on December 14, 2015.

the Counsel to the embattled leader, Femi Falana in a written application, said his client is in dire need of medical attention, having lost one of his eyes while in custody of the Department of State Security Service. He further argued that Elzakzaky and his wife, Zinat have not been given adequate medical care since their detention on December 14, 2015.

But the Kaduna State Director of Public Prosecution, Dari Bayero, Objected Elzakzaky’s application, on the grounds that Nigerian medical Doctors are yet to be invited to ascertain if the IMN leader should be treated locally or abroad.

However, The presiding judge, Justice Darius Khobo adjourned sitting on the matter to July 29, 2019, to rule on the application.
