South African Musician Johnny Clegg Has Passed Away

South African musician Johnny Clegg, nicknamed the “White Zulu”, died Tuesday of cancer at the age of 66, his manager told the public television channel SABC.

“Johnny died peacefully today, surrounded by his family in Johannesburg, after a four-and-a-half-year battle with cancer,” said his manager, Rodd Quinn, on the SABC.

Jonathan Clegg OBE OIS is a South African musician and anthropologist who has recorded and performed with his bands Juluka and Savuka, and more recently as a solo act, occasionally reuniting with his earlier band partners.
